First I will say that I'm not an elite racer, but that I'm a pretty fit 75 year old who just completed his 81st marathon in NYC last Sunday in 5:22 and hasn't seen sub 3 hours in 40 years. Bottom line, I'm very persistent, experienced and know what I like and prefer to permit myself to exert my efforts most comfortably. I own and enjoy a large variety of brands and have enjoyed many 2XU products over the years.
Now for the Aero 7" shorts. They arrived just about a 10 days before the NYC Marathon, and were quite comfortable on my first wearing, a nice 90 minute easy trail run - no chafing and ample and stable pockets for a couple gels and car keys. Machine wash and dry and the shorts performed just as well on the second wearing. As the marathon was quickly approaching, it became obvious that we were going to experience unusually unseasonable temperature and humidity and I had to adjust my thoughts on how to dress for a 5 hour plus effort. A few days prior to the marathon my dermatologist performed a procedure on my shoulder that made me consider a t-shirt instead of a tank or singlet. I remembered I had an extremely nice lightweight green Light Speed Tee - Sage Corrosion/Black Reflective / M (purchased the previous May) that would not only provide the comfort and protection I desired, but also coordinated well with my new shorts. In addition I was experiencing a bit of calf fatigue that last tapper week and decided to run wearing my 2XU Elite MCS Compression Calf…
Light and comfortable. Got the job done.
